A harbor seal pup being rehabilitated by The Marine Mammal Cente

Join us on the 2nd Sunday of each month for Marine Science Sunday - a FREE engaging ocean-inspired classroom series from our education experts.

Every spring, The Marine Mammal Center rescues hundreds of elephant seal and harbor seal pups that have been separated from their mothers due to big storms, people approaching them and scaring the mom away, or young pups unable to find food on their own. This season, we have also seen hundreds of sea lion pups stranding on local beaches and in Southern California in historic numbers!  For this reason, this month's theme is To the Rescue where we will talk about how we care for our youngest and most fragile patients. We recommend teaming our free classroom programs at 12 pm and 2 pm with a Docent-led tour at 11am, 1pm or 3pm for a truly immersive marine mammal experience. Program Summary

  • FREE Classroom Programs: To the Rescue- 12 PM and 2 PM (1 hour sessions)

Join Adam Ratner, Visitor Programs Coordinator and animal care volunteer at The Marine Mammal Center, for an interactive presentation on the behind-the-scenes care that goes into diagnosing, feeding, and caring for our sick seal and sea lion pups. Sessions are held in the Center's classroom at 12pm and 2pm. A great compliment to the docent-led tour!

  • Meet the Center's Founder's Pat Arrigoni and Paul Maxwell

Pat Arrigoni and and Paul Maxwell are two of the Center's founders. They will be onsite to talk about the early days and sign Pat's new book about the history of The Marine Mammal Center. It's a real treat to have them both at the Center at this event, so don't miss it!
  • Earth Day Marin

Parters from Earth Day Marin will be here to reveal all the cool things that you can get involved with this Earth Day!

  • Docent-led Tours* - 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM
