Did you know that over half of all California sea lions are born on June 15 each year? Come celebrate one of California's most iconic marine mammals and learn about what makes this animals so special. Docent-led tours will take you around the hospital showcasing some of the patients we are caring for and how our veterinarians are getting them better. Classroom presentations will feature interactive activities and multimedia showcasing the amazing adaptations of California sea lions, their history at Pier 39, and stories of the California sea lions at our hospital!
FREE Classroom Programs: A Barkin' Birthday! - 12 PM and 2 PM (1 hour sessions)
Come learn about the amazing adaptations and history of California sea lions, including the animals at PIER 39 and current patients at our hospital. A great complement to the docent-led tour!
Docent-led Tours* - 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM
Learn fascinating facts about seals and sea lions from our education experts while seeing exhibits and patient viewing areas. (*Small fee applies, it helps our patients!).

The theme we celebrate the endangered and threatened marine mammals found along the California coast and Pacific Ocean, including the massive blue whale, Steller sea lions, fur seals, and the rarest seal in the United States, the Hawaiian monk seal. Docent-led tours will take you around the hospital showcasing some of the patients we are caring for and how our veterinarians are getting them better. Classroom presentations will feature interactive activities and multimedia showcasing the amazing adaptations and diversity amongst some of the rarest marine mammals and the efforts of the Center to keep them alive.
